Friends and mentors of late cinematographer, wife and mum Halyna Hutchins have found a beautiful way to honour her memory.

They've creating a scholarship through the American Film Institute (AFI) where Halyna studied, to support other aspiring female cinematographers.

Halyna's husband **Matt Hutchins** shared the news on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/mhutchins/status/1451823756242939905?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io), urging "anyone seeking to honour her memory" to give to the [Halyna Hutchins Memorial Scholarship Fund](https://www.afi.com/halyna-hutchins-scholarship-fund/?form=FUNYUNXCHMH&ref=celebritykind.ghost.io).

Halyna was tragically killed by a prop firearm on the set of her movie "Rust" in New Mexico this week. The incident also left director Joel Souza in hospital with injuries.

Earlier, Matt posted a short [message](https://twitter.com/mhutchins/status/1451743853359239168?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io) following his wife's death describing her as a woman who inspired many with her "passion and vision."

"Her legacy is too meaningful to encapsulate in words," he wrote.

"Our loss is enormous."
