**Angelina Jolie** will be returning to our screens in a biopic about legendary opera singer Maria Callas.

The film, titled *Maria,* will be written by *Peaky Blinders* creator Steven Knight and directed by acclaimed Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín. The duo last worked together on *Spencer,* the drama about Princess Diana

*Maria* will "tell the tumultuous, beautiful and tragic story of the life of the world's greatest opera singer, relived and re-imagined during her final days in 1970s Paris," according to the official logline.

"I take very seriously the responsibility to Maria's life and legacy," Angelina shared in a statement (as per [*The Guardian*](https://www.theguardian.com/film/2022/oct/21/angelina-jolie-maria-callas-biopic?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io)*).*

"I will give all I can to meet the challenge. Pablo Larraín is a director I have long admired. To be allowed the chance to tell more of Maria's story with him and with a script by Steven Knight, is a dream."

We last saw Angelina in Marvel's *Eternals* and thriller *Those Who Wish Me Dead.*
