After months of deliberation - and some pretty heated online debates - *Billboard* has finally revealed the greatest pop star of the 21st century and it's... **Beyoncé!**

How can one *possibly* make a decision like this when there are so many incredible artists, you might be wondering?

Well, it's certainly a tough one and there will always be critics of the list but the American music mag's editorial staff has been compiling names for sometime, not only looking at record sales and awards but also cultural significance and those who have "most defined pop stardom for the last 25 years."

In announcing Queen Bey as the winner, *Billboard* said: "No one has set the standard for pop star greatness in the 21st century as long, as consistently or as spectacularly as Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. From her turn-of-the-century star breakout as the frontwoman of best-selling girl group Destiny's Child to her work in recent years reinventing genre while still moving the culture forward, Beyoncé has spent the last 25 years exemplifying excellence in all its forms."

With 32 Grammys, 30 MTV Video Music Awards, 27 Billboard Music Awards and a host of other accolades along the way, influencing film, fashion and politics, *Billboard* says Beyoncé is "simply this century's answer to Michael, Madonna and Prince - and every bit worthy of standing alongside them in their singular mononymic greatness."

So the top 3 spots are taken by women (**Taylor Swift** at no. 2 and **Rihanna** at no. 3) and there are many other female artists who made the prestigious cut including **Lady Gaga, Britney Spears** and **Adele.** Check out the full list below:
