The Queen of Christmas *and* the Queen of Kindness - **Mariah Carey** is celebrating fellow singer **Brenda Lee**!

The superstar, whose hit single "All I Want for Christmas is You" dominates the charts at this time of year, congratulated Brenda after her song, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. It was originally released in 1958 when Brenda was just 13 years old and yep, if my maths is correct, that means it's hit No. 1 a whole 65 years after its release!

Taking to social media, Brenda, now 78, revealed Mariah not only sent her a large bunch of flowers, but also a sweet handwritten note:

"Dearest Ms. Brenda, Congratulations on your historic #1\. Have a Merry Christmas. Love, Mariah."

> Thank you for your sweet note, [@MariahCarey](https://twitter.com/MariahCarey?ref%5Fsrc=twsrc%5Etfw&ref=celebritykind.ghost.io)! Wishing you the merriest Christmas, too! 💕 -Brenda [pic.twitter.com/Md0w7vQYpc](https://t.co/Md0w7vQYpc?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io)

Brenda captioned the image, "Thank you for your sweet note @mariahcarey! Wishing you the merriest Christmas too!"

According to [*Billboard,*](https://www.billboard.com/lists/brenda-lee-rockin-around-the-christmas-tree-number-one-hot-100/?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io) Brenda's song is now only the 3rd holiday single to reach the top spot on the Hot 100 in history. And while it did reach renewed popularity in the 90s after featuring in the original *Home Alone* film, it never hit No. 1 then. So by reaching the top spot now, Brenda also sets a new record for the longest wait for a song to top the charts from its date of release!

Of course, both Mariah and Brenda's songs have had similar trajectories in that Mariah released "All I Want for Christmas is You" in 1994 but also hit No. 1 decades later, in 2019.

Other holiday songs topping the charts this week include Bobby Helms' "Jingle Bell Rock", Wham's "Last Christmas" and Andy Williams' "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year."
