# DOLLY PARTON HELPED FUND A PROMISING COVID-19 VACCINE

She's given us some of the greatest hits in country music, delivered 100 million free books through her [Imagination Library](https://imaginationlibrary.com/au/?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io) to children all over the world and was even an uncredited executive producer for *Buffy The Vampire Slayer.* 

Now we're learning **Dolly Parton** is one of the reasons pharmaceutical company Moderna has been able to develop a promising COVID-19 vaccine!

You see, in April this year, the superstar announced she was donating $1 million to create the Dolly Parton COVID-19 Research Fund to support scientists trying to find a cure for the virus.

And then this week, [Moderna released data](https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/nejmoa2022483?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io) in the New England Journal of Medicine showing its vaccine is 94.5 percent effective - and that **Dolly** contributed to their funding.

"When I donated money to the Covid fund, I just wanted it to do good and evidently, it is! Let's just hope we can find a cure real soon," **Dolly** [posted on Twitter.](https://twitter.com/DollyParton/status/1328741440470528000?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io)

While there's still more testing that needs to be carried out, the research is giving the world some hope of ending the pandemic.
