# Geena Davis to Release Memoir: 'Dying of Politeness'

Screen icon and gender equality advocate **Geena Davis** is releasing a memoir!

Titled *Dying of Politeness,* the book is [described](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lifestyle/arts/geena-davis-memoir-fall-release-1235144949/?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io) by the two-time Oscar-winner as her "journey to badassery" ... and *who wouldn't want to read about that?*

According to publisher HarperOne (an imprint of HarperCollins), the book will share stories from Geena's childhood, her modelling days, her rise to fame in Hollywood where she starred in major films including *Thelma & Louise, A League of Their Own* and *Tootsie* and now her vital work promoting gender in media through her nonprofit Geena Davis Institute.

*"Dying of* *Politeness* is a touching account of one woman's journey to fight for herself, and ultimately fighting for women all around the globe," a description from the publisher reads.

Geena's Institute was founded in 2004 and is the only global research-based organisation working within the entertainment industry to create gender balance on screen. One of their main accomplishments is creating the "Inclusion Quotient", software which evaluates content and language and helps creators re-imagine and create change in their work to ensure more inclusive and diverse representation of women and girls.

As Geena always says, "if you can see it, you can be it!"

*Dying of Politeness* will be released on October 11.
