Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have taken their mental health advocacy to Nigeria.

The couple, currently on a three-day visit to the West African nation where they're meeting with wounded soldiers and visiting local nonprofits, stopped by the Lightway Academy in Abuja on their first day. They launched the school's first-ever Mental Health Summit thanks to a partnership between their Archewell Foundation and the GEANCO Foundation.

Speaking to over 200 students in primary and secondary, they highlighted the importance of prioritising mental health, with Prince Harry reminding them all "it's okay, not to be okay."

In a post on social media, the Lightway Academy thanked the Duke and Duchess for their time: "They joined us for an important conversation about mental health awareness and the steps we can take to support each other."

According to the Archwell Foundation, the students are engaging in "various activities and discussions designed to offer resources and assistance for their mental well-being, including sessions on enhancing emotional wellness during adolescence and how to identify and manage stress."

During Harry and Meghan's visit to the school, there was lots of dancing too. In clips and photos posted on Lightway Academy's [social media](https://www.instagram.com/p/C6ygPb0oXt-/?%5F%5Fcoig%5Fchallenged=1&img%5Findex=1&ref=celebritykind.ghost.io) pages, the couple can be seen twirling and jumping up and down with the kids and taking photos with them.

This isn't the first time the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have shown their support for the people of Nigeria. In 2023, their foundation collaborated with The GEANCO Foundation to [send school supplies](https://celebritykind.ghost.io/content/files/2026/09/harry-and-meghan-send-supplies-to-girls-in-nigeria-5.html) and menstrual products to 2,500 girls in the region.

The country is particularly close to Meghan’s heart - last year, she shared the results of a genealogy test on her [Archetypes podcast](https://open.spotify.com/episode/6G4IbZz3V7xshB1X9Ddfi5?si=Vwdzl2gqS8G9mjGNqwbTCQ&ref=celebritykind.ghost.io) and revealed she’s 43% Nigerian.
