**Hugh Jackman** has revealed he's waiting to find out whether he has basal cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer - and he's using his platform to remind us all about the importance of sun safety.

In a video posted to social media, the beloved actor speaks to his 31.1 million fans with a bandage on the tip of his nose.

"I wanted you to hear it from me, just in case someone sees me on the street or whatever. I've just had two biopsies done," he begins.

"She (the doctor) just saw little things, that could be or could not be basal cell. She doesn't know. I'll find out in two or three days and as soon as I know I'll let you know."

He explains that basal cell carcinoma is the least dangerous of skin cancers: "However, if I could take this time to remind you, summer is coming, for those of us in the Northern hemisphere. Please wear sunscreen. No matter how much you want a tan, trust me, trust me, trust me, please wear sunscreen. It's just not worth it."

According to [The Skin Cancer Foundation,](https://www.skincancer.org/skin-cancer-information/basal-cell-carcinoma/?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io) basal cell carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer and most can be treated when caught early.

Pointing at his nose, Hugh says, "this is all stuff that happened 25 years ago. It's all coming out now. Put some sunscreen on, you'll still have an incredible time out there."

Hugh, who is currently preparing to reprise his role as Wolverine in the upcoming *Deadpool 3* film alongside his mate Ryan Reynolds, has been treated for skin cancer a number of times. Every time, he's taken a moment to share his diagnosis and experience with his fans, in the hope of helping others prioritise sun safety.
