Well that was quick! It was literally just a couple of weeks ago **Sophie Perry**, the teenage daughter of late actor **Luke Perry**, decided to make the most of suddenly being [thrust into the spotlight](https://celebritykind.ghost.io/content/files/2026/09/sophieperry-2.html), posting a crowd-funding campaign on Instagram to build 10 new preschools in rural parts of Malawi.

Today, the 18-year-old announced that the first school has been built - and it's been named after her dad!

In a social media post, Sophie says, *"I can’t tell you how proud and excited I am to see it open on Wednesday. Thank you to my amazing partner Ruben for everything. Especially for fighting to name the school after my dad."*

**Sophie** (along with a few friends) are working on building 9 more preschools in the Thyolo district of Malawi. They will arrange for teacher training workshops so the schools will be staffed by qualified educators *and* they'll build 15 gardens, playgrounds and toilets with hand-washing facilities.

We reckon Luke would be pretty proud.
