**Matthew McConaughey** is on a mission to support emerging musicians.

The Hollywood star, author and philanthropist is collaborating with alcohol brand Wild Turkey and nonprofit record label Spaceflight Records to launch the *101 Bold Nights Music Mentorship.* It's a competition that aims to find and support an artist who has demonstrated a passion telling bold stories through their craft with the winner receiving a personalised mentorship with the label.

"Music shapes culture," McConaughey, who is creative director for Wild Turkey, says in a statement.

"It creates community, brings people together and offers a soundtrack to life's most important moments. Along with Wild Turkey and its partner Spaceflight Records, I am thrilled to announce the 101 Bold Nights Music Mentorship to support emerging artists who are crafting inspiring music."

He also tells [*People*,](https://people.com/music/matthew-mcconaughey-101-bold-nights-music-mentorship/?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io) it's an opportunity to help someone get their foot in the door: "I know how hard it is for a young band to get in or get heard."
