According to the streaming service, *Palm Royale* is loosely based on the novel *Mr & Mrs American Pie* by Juliet McDaniel. It is set in 1969 and is "a true underdog story that follows Maxine Simmons (played by Wiig) as she endeavours to break into Palm Beach high society. As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the have and the have-nots, *Palm Royale* asks the same question that still baffles us today - How much yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get what someone else has?" ![Palm Royale first look at series from Apple TV+](https://storage.ghost.io/c/cf/bb/cfbb8a7e-9a81-48ec-83e6-18e106bf4f7a/content/images/2026/09/palmroyale_103_f00033f-2.jpg) Apple TV+ ![Palm Royale first look at series from Apple TV+](https://storage.ghost.io/c/cf/bb/cfbb8a7e-9a81-48ec-83e6-18e106bf4f7a/content/images/2026/09/palmroyale_102_3098f-2.jpg) Apple TV+ Hey there bestie - sign up to our [FREE Newsletter](https://celebritykind.ghost.io/content/files/2026/09/newsletter-sign-up-878.html) for more kind, no-gossip celebrity news! ##### Who is cast in *Palm Royale?* In addition to Kristen Wiig, the series features a stellar cast including Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Ricky Martin, Kaia Gerber, Josh Lucas, Leslie Bibb, Chardae Robinson, Mindy Cohn and Julia Duffy. We finally have an answer, dear readers! The hugely successful period drama from Shondaland will premiere on Netflix in two parts – the first on May 16 and the second on June 13. The streamer announced the news this week, with a video of snippets from past seasons put together, along with TikToks and tweets by the show’s fans who’ve been patiently (or perhaps, impatiently?) waiting for the new season. “I NEED BRIDGERTON SEASON 3, LIKE RIGHT NOW!” one fan tweet reads. ##### ##### What will *Bridgerton* season 3 be about? In May 2022, **Nicola Coughlan** who stars as Penelope Featherington, announced Season 3 would focus on Penelope’s relationship with Colin Bridgerton (played by **Luke Newton**). *#Polin!* “Like Lady Whistledown, I’ve been keeping quite a big secret for quite a long time…. but I can finally tell you that @bridgertononnetflix Season Three is Colin and Penelope’s Story,” she posted on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/Cdm0BEVL91Z/?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io). You’ll remember the first two seasons followed the first two novels by author Julia Quinn which focused on the lives of Daphne Bridgerton and the Duke of Hastings, and then Anthony Bridgerton’s romance with Kate Sharma. Benedict Bridgerton’s story should be up next going by the books – but clearly we can’t get enough of #Polin and the TV show’s creators are giving us what we want! ##### ##### Who is cast in *Bridgerton season 3?* In addition to returning cast members including **Nicola Coughlan** as Penelope, **Luke Newton** as Colin Bridgerton, **Jonathan Bailey** as Anthony Bridgerton, **Golda Rosheuvel** as Queen Charlotte and **Adjoah Andoh** as Lady Danbury, the streamer has announced three new people will be joining the series. They include *The Crown’s *Sam Phillips** as Lord Debling, *Stay Close* star **Daniel Francis** as Marcus Anderson and *Wreck’s* **James Phoon** as Harry Dankworth. It was previously revealed that Francesca Bridgerton will be played by **Hannah Dodd** in the third instalment, taking over the role from **Ruby Stokes** who left to pursue another Netflix series, *Lockwood & Co.* ##### Haven’t read the books yet? *At CelebrityKind, we always encourage you to support your local independent bookstore.
