**Paris Hilton** has launched an emergency fund to help families who've lost their homes in the wildfires.

The beloved media personality (and kickass entrepreneur, podcaster, author and more), who lost her Malibu home in the fires earlier this week, has started the fund through her nonprofit, **11:11 Media Impact**. She's making a personal donation of US $100,000 and matching donations up to another $100,000 too:

"Families with young children have lost their homes, memories, and so much more," Paris writes on the [fundraiser](https://www.every.org/1111-media-impact/f/help-displaced-families?utm%5Fcampaign=nonprofits%5Fadmins&utm%5Fmedium=email&utm%5Fsource=DONATION%5FRECEIVED). As a mom, I can’t imagine the unimaginable pain of not having a safe place for your babies, wondering how you’ll make it through so I am mobilising to support families in need."

How will the funds be used? According to the GoFundMe, the funds will provide families with cash assistance through emergency relief organisation [**Core Response**](http://www.coreresponse.org/?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io) (founded by actor **Sean Penn** and humanitarian **Ann Lee**), provide short-term housing and hotel stays for families and help top up supplies at evacuation centres. A portion of the funds will also go to animal shelters working to help displaced pets.

Since announcing her emergency fund, Paris has raised over $250,000 in just over 24 hours. In her Instagram stories, she adds that it took 10 minutes to provide hotel stays for four families.

In an earlier post on socials, Paris reflected on her own loss, saying her heart "shattered into a million pieces":

“While the loss is overwhelming, I’m holding onto gratitude that my family is safe. My heart and prayers are going out to every family affected by these fires. To all the people who have lost their homes, their memories, and their beloved pets. My heart aches for those still in harm’s way or mourning greater losses. The devastation is unimaginable. To know so many are waking up today without the place they called home is truly heartbreaking.”
