Hollywood superstar **Russell Crowe** is auctioning off his beloved Souths cap to raise money for the New South Wales Fire Service.

The actor posted a photo of what he's calling the "slightly used" hat on Twitter this morning and says he will double or triple the winning bid:

> Should I auction this hat off? Signed and personalised to the highest bidder? I’ll double or triple the winning bid and donate the $ to the ⁦[@NSWRFS](https://twitter.com/NSWRFS?ref%5Fsrc=twsrc%5Etfw&ref=celebritykind.ghost.io)⁩ .

Helping out the firies is clearly a cause that's important to Russell. He recently posted a video of his Nana Glen property "absolutely f\*\*\*ing smashed" by the bushfires.

> Sent this to a friend. Thought I’d share with you too . Fires still burning , logs smoking everywhere you look. Got halfway to where we were trying to get to, will try again in the morning when it’s cooler. [pic.twitter.com/eCjR8QXXMm](https://t.co/eCjR8QXXMm?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io)

The hat was most recently worn by Russell on November 27 when he and a group of neighbours helped to clear some roads affected by the fires:

> Caledonian Knob Rd down to Tallawadja Creek Rd open again to regular sized 4WD etc. Probably not wide enough for trucks. 3.7kms of downed trees cut and dragged off the road. Our pleasure neighbours. Joey Shabadoo part 3 later. [pic.twitter.com/B0ZChvPDOg](https://t.co/B0ZChvPDOg?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io)

At the time of writing, the highest bid for the hat stands at US $3100 !
