# Selena Gomez is Embracing Kidney Transplant Scar (And Shares First Photo)

**Selena Gomez** has shared a photo of her kidney transplant scar for the first time since her operation in 2017.

The superstar posted a photo of herself on Instagram wearing a one-piece bathing suit (which happens to be named after her) by new label **La'Mariette,** revealing the scar on her inner thigh.

"When I got my kidney transplant, I remember it being very difficult at first showing my scar," she writes.

"I didn't want it to be in photos, so I wore things that would cover it up. Now more than ever, I feel confident in who I am and what I went through...and I'm proud of that."

**Selena** had the transplant as part of her fight against lupus, an autoimmune disease that was attacking her kidneys.

It was her good friend and *Grown-ish* actress **Francia Raisa** who donated the kidney.
