It's been 30 years since we fell in love with fugitive buddies "Thelma & Louise" and to mark the occasion, stars **Geena Davis** and **Susan Sarandon** have reunited at a special charity drive-in screening, posing with *that exact 1966 Ford Thunderbird convertible* and even recreating some of *those iconic* scenes!

The event, which celebrated the Oscar-winning film, was held at the Greek Theatre in L.A. and benefited two organisations: [**LA Regional Food Bank**](http://www.lafoodbank.org/?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io) which addresses food insecurity throughout Los Angeles and Geena's own foundation, the [**Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media**](http://www.seejane.org/?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io) which works to ensure there's more equal representation of women and girls in movies and TV.

Geena and Susan took to the red carpet wearing custom-made tees that read "She's My Thelma & I'm Her Louise" and "She's My Louise & I'm Her Thelma."[](https://t.cfjump.com/33629/b/150942?ref=celebritykind.ghost.io)

They also joined Callie Khouri, who wrote the screenplay, for a Q&A hosted by *The Hollywood Reporter's* Rebecca Keegan where they discussed how 30 years ago, the press predicted the movie would be a game-changer for women....but sadly, it wasn't:

"There are going to be so many movies starring women, about women, female road pictures, whatever," Geena recalled.

"I'm thinking, hot dog, let's sit back and wait for all this magic change to happen. It seems like every five years or so, there's another movie starring women that's a huge hit and people say 'well now certainly everything is going to change' and it really hasn't."

Earlier, Susan said in a statement shared by the Geena Davis Institute, that she had no idea of the cultural impact the movie would have for decades:

"At the time, it was revolutionary to have two women in a film that weren't enemies and were having fun together on screen. I think that's been one of the biggest breakthroughs - today there are so many brilliant female actors making films where women aren't adversarial to each other and have the power to determine their own destiny."
