*Young Sheldon,* the hugely popular prequel series to *The Big Bang Theory,* is coming to an end...

CBS has announced the upcoming seventh season which is due to be released in the U.S. on 15, February, 2024, will be its last. The show will wrap up its epic run with an hour-long finale on May 16.

"As a prequel to one of the biggest comedies, *Young Sheldon* proved lightning can strike twice," Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment said.

"It set itself apart with a remarkable cast that felt like a family from the first moment we saw them on screen and brought characters to life with unique heartfelt stories that drew audiences in from the start."

"In case you wondered, I love my family," he writes, sharing a throwback with his onscreen siblings, Raegan Revord who plays Missy Cooper and Montana Jordan who plays Georgie Cooper.

"There's about 200 more people who make Young Sheldon happen and I'm grateful to each of them. We will make the best 7th season we can possibly make - and behind the scenes, there will be lots of laughter and lots of tears because I love all of these people so much."

But it's not all sad news - series creator Chuck Lorre announced in April that he was developing a second series related to *The Big Bang Theory* with Max (formerly HBO Max). Details of this new project haven't been released yet.

*Young Sheldon* is one of CBS' biggest hits since it debuted in 2017\. It was the No.1 comedy on the network during the 2022-2023 broadcast season.
