Cody Simpson is ditching all single-use plastic for at least 10 days and he's hoping you'll do the same.
The Aussie singer who's also an Oceans Advocate for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has announced the #NoPlasticChallenge which happens to coincide with the UN's Climate Conference taking place in Madrid right now - yep, the same one climate activist Greta Thunberg has sailed across the Atlantic for!
In an Insta post, Cody explains: "Single-use plastic has an average lifespan of 12 to 15 minutes but can take over 1,000 years to disintegrate."
"Much of it ends up in our oceans and the convenience is not worth the cost," he continues. "I challenge myself and the rest of you to live entirely without plastics for 10 days."
According to the UNDP, plastic production reached 396 million metric tons in 2016, which is the equivalent of 53 kilograms of plastic for each person on the planet! The campaign is about re-thinking how much plastic we use everyday and cutting it out where we can.
Cody ends the post by asking, "Are you in?"
Well... are you?
