Demi Lovato has announced that she's no longer living by other people's standards of beauty but rather appreciating her body as it is. And she's hoping to inspire us all to do the same.
The singer posted the message on Instagram along with an unedited bikini photo.
"I'm just literally soooo tired of being ashamed of my body," she writes, "editing it (yes the other bikini pics were edited - and I hated that I did that but it's the truth) so others think I'm THEIR idea of what beautiful is, but it's just not me."
"This is what I got," she continues. "I want this new chapter in my life to be about being authentic to who I am rather than trying to meet someone else's standards. So here's me unashamed, unafraid and proud to own a body that has fought through so much and will continue to amaze me when I hopefully give birth one day."
"I love me. And you should love you too," she writes to her 73 million followers.
Demi ends the post by saying, "I hope to inspire someone to appreciate their body today too."
Her empowering message is receiving plenty of online applause including comments of support from model Ashley Graham who writes, "showing us YOU is so incredibly beautiful. Thank you Demi!" and actress Jamie Lee Curtis who says, "YOU ARE AN AMAZING WOMAN AND BEAUTIFUL!"
