Reps for Hollywood star Dev Patel have confirmed the actor intervened during a violent altercation between two people, successfully de-escalating the situation until police arrived.
The incident took place in Adelaide, South Australia on Monday night, with the Green Knight actor seen speaking to authorities at about 8.45 p.m. (as per 7News).
South Australia Police have confirmed to CelebrityKind a 32-year-old man was stabbed in the chest and taken to hospital with injuries "not considered life threatening" and a 34-year-old woman has been charged with aggravated assault causing harm and will appear in court today.
In a statement to the news outlet, Dev's team explained that the actor was with his friends when they saw the fight taking place outside a convenience store:

"Dev acted on his natural instinct to try and de-escalate the situation and break up the fight. The group was thankfully successful in doing so and they remained on site to ensure that the police and eventually the ambulance arrived."
Adding to the statement, "There are no heroes in this situation and sadly this specific incident highlights a larger systemic issue of marginalised members of society not being treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. The hope is that the same level of media attention this story is receiving (solely because Dev, as a famous person, was involved) can be a catalyst for lawmakers to be compassionate in determining long-term solutions to help not only the individuals who were involved but the community at large."
Police say this was not a random attack and the two people involved were known to each other.
