Dolly Parton donated $1 million to help fund research into a COVID-19 vaccine last year and today, the country music icon has, as she puts it, received "a dose of her own medicine!"
Dolly attended the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where she got her first shot on camera from friend, Dr Naji Abumrad, who was part of the team that developed the Moderna vaccine.
"I'm so excited. I've been waiting a while. I'm old enough to get it and I'm smart enough to get it," Dolly says in a video posted on her socials.

The much-loved superstar even delivers an updated version of her hit song "Jolene" to match the occasion:
"Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine. I'm beggin' of you, please don't hesitate. Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine. 'Cause once you're dead then that's a bit too late."
Lolz Dolly.
She also had a message for anyone worried about getting the shot:
"I just want to say to all of you cowards out there - don't be such a chicken squat. Get out there and get your shot."
It wasn't all hilarity though, of course.
"I'm trying to be funny now, but I'm dead serious about the vaccine. I think we all want to get back to normal, whatever that is. And that would be a great shot in the arm, wouldn't it? If we could get back to that?
After her shot, Dolly can be heard squealing, "I did it! I did it!"
She's the latest celebrity to publicly have the coronavirus vaccine. Sir Elton John and Sir Michael Caine got their jabs just last week and now star in a viral PSA urging everyone to do the same.
