Some happy news for Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet - he and his girlfriend, paediatric nurse Lindsay Schweitzer, are engaged!

The actor took to Instagram to share the exciting news with his 2.2 million followers.

"She said, 'She'd have her people call my people,'" Eric joked, captioning a series of photos of them sitting together around a table, including one where he's hilariously pointing at the rock on Lindsay's finger. (Swipe to see!)

Eric's Modern Family co-stars had a lot to say about the news:

"Jesus Christ. Finally," Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who played "Mitchell," Eric's onscreen partner, commented.

"I honestly don't know who is luckier (lie: I do)," Julie Bowen aka Claire Dunphy added.

Eric and Lindsay have been together for at least three years and according to People, first met at a Kansas City charity event in 2016.
