Glen Powell Remembers Original 'Twister' Star Bill Paxton: "His Boots Are Impossible to Fill"

Glen Powell may be the new "tornado wrangler" in Twisters, but he's not forgetting original star Bill Paxton who sadly passed away in 2017.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Glen shared a throwback photo of the two of them together from 2013 wearing cowboy hats on the set of Red Wing. He captioned the post, "As we release Twisters into the world today, I just wanted to look up and tip my hat to the legend that is Bill Paxton. A great friend of mine who saw poetry in the natural world."

Bill played storm chaser Bill Harding in the 1996 film alongside Helen Hunt and Philip Seymour Hoffman. He passed away at the age of 61 from complications during surgery.

Glen's message continued, "His boots are impossible to fill, but this life is all about chasing the greats."

In the new, thrilling film directed by Lee Isaac Chung - the Oscar-nominated writer-director behind Minari - Glen plays Tyler Owens, a charming southern internet sensation who likes to video himself chasing storms.

He stars alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones as Kate Carter, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating past, and Anthony Ramos as Javi, an old friend who wants to test a new storm tracking system. Kate and Tyler's paths cross as their teams find themselves in the midst of multiple storm systems over Oklahoma, and well, let's just say chaos ensues....

Twisters also stars Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney and Sasha Lane.

And if you're wondering whether or not Glen's parents, Cyndy and Glen Sr., make a cameo in this film, like they've done in the past - the answer is yes! No spoilers, but keep an eye out for a brief background appearance.

Twisters is out in theatres... now!
