Halsey is sharing an honest look at their postpartum body in the hopes of reminding us all that our own ever-changing bodies are enough as they are - and certainly don't need to live up to any expectations set by society.

You see, the singer who appeared on Saturday Night Live over the weekend, less than three months after giving birth to baby Ender, was bombarded with compliments after the show about how good they looked.

"That was a weird feeling," Halsey writes in an Insta post.

"My body has felt like a stranger's for a long time. I uphold myself to honesty to the point of over sharing sometimes but this feels important," they continue, sharing a postpartum pic a few days after giving birth.

"The first picture on this slide is days after my baby was born. A lot of people don't know that you still look pregnant for awhile after. It is still changing and I am letting it."

Halsey goes on to explain that she's "too tired and too busy" to work out right now and that their appearance during SNL had a lot of behind-the-scenes help: "...the body behind all those compliments the other night was wearing a custom tailored outfit and lighted perfectly after much testing, so I could feel good and do my job. I do not want to feed the Illusion that you're meant to feel and look 'great' immediately postpartum."

Halsey also addresses the unrealistic concept of snapping back into shape:

"I will never have my 'pre baby body back' no matter how it changes physically because I have now had a baby! And that has altered me forever, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. That change is permanent. And I don't want to go back!"

Isn't it just so refreshing to hear that?

What Halsey is doing is changing the dialogue around postpartum bodies and normalising the fact that bodies change and do all sorts of incredible things - and no matter what those changes are, they're perfectly okay, just as they are.
