Hugh Jackman Hilariously Asks Academy Not to Nominate Ryan Reynolds for 'Spirited'

These two! The joy they bring to our lives with their hilarity is truly unmatched.

In the latest episode of Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds publicly - and yet somehow endearingly - dragging each other online, it's unclear who has come out on top.

You see, the Wolverine star took to social media today after learning his frenemy/bestie Ryan had earned himself a spot on the Oscars shortlist for best song for "Good Afternoon" which features in the movie Spirited.

"It's a great movie. The entire family watched it and had a blast," Hugh says in his video.  "I love Will [Ferrell], I love Octavia [Spencer]... and the song 'Good Afternoon', I laughed the entire way through! It is absolutely brilliant."

So far, so good, right? Well, it all takes a turn when Hugh turns his attention to his buddy...

"Ryan Reynolds getting a nomination in the Best Song Category would make the next year of my life insufferable," he says, deadpan.

"I have to spend a year with him shooting Wolverine in 'Deadpool.' Trust me, it would be impossible. It would be a problem.... So just to recap - love 'Spirited', love Will, love Octavia.... but please, please from the bottom of my heart, do not validate Ryan Reynolds in this way, please."

Now at this point, it would seem that Hugh has won this ongoing roasting battle. But perhaps not.....

You see, Ryan then reposted the video of Hugh on his own Instagram page, with a rather clever caption: "I know it's still early but Good Afternoon to you, Mr Jackman."

Why is this clever, you may be wondering?

Because in the movie, Spirited, "Good Afternoon" actually means F*** You!
