Macklemore has announced all streaming proceeds from his new song "Hind's Hall" will go towards humanitarian efforts in Gaza.

In a post on Instagram, the Seattle-based rapper pledged to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency which provides emergency aid to Palestinian refugees.

The powerful track, released on May 6, calls for a permanent ceasefire and backs college students who are currently protesting on campuses across the U.S.

"What is threatening about divesting and wanting peace?" Macklemore raps. "The problem isn't the protest, it's what they're protesting/It goes against what our country is funding."

"Hind's Hall" specifically refers to the name protesters at Columbia University have given the campus' Hamilton Hall, in memory of 6-year-old Palestinian girl Hind Rajab who was killed by Israeli military in Gaza earlier this year while calling for an ambulance to help her family.

During the track, Macklemore also calls out the U.S. government for funding the war, as well as his music industry peers who've stayed silent on the matter: "What happened to the artist? What do you got to say?"

Mackelmore has been vocal about his views on the war since October last year when he released a statement condemning "the murder of any human." In a post on social media, he wrote:

"The bombings, kidnappings and murder of the Israeli people carried out by Hamas was horrific in every way imaginable. My heart deeply hurts for the Israelis that lost loved ones to such an abomination. As a father, I cannot imagine if one of my kids was at that festival, or was still missing after being kidnapped. It is absolutely unfathomable. But killing innocent humans in retaliation as collective punishment is not the answer. That is why I am supporting people around the world who are calling for a ceasefire."

He is not the only artist calling for an end to the war either - a number of actors, musicians, sports stars and models have signed the Artists4Ceasefire petition which calls for a permanent ceasefire, the safe return of all hostages and urgent humanitarian relief for the people of Gaza. Some of the signatories include Cate Blanchett, Channing Tatum, Jon Stewart, Mark Ruffalo, Jessica Chastain, America Ferrera, Sandra Oh and Rooney Mara.
