It's true! It's true! Yes, the film adaptation of Wuthering Heights is going ahead, and yes, both Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are playing the leads!
So many exclamation marks, I know, but this is seriously exciting news.
Deadline has confirmed the two Aussie stars will take on the roles of Catherine and Heathcliff, based on Emily Brontë's much-loved romance. Margot's LuckyChap studios, which was behind the newly released My Old Ass, will be producing the film.
And it was previously announced that Oscar-winning film-maker Emerald Fennell, known for Promising Young Woman and Saltburn, would be writing and directing. In fact, Emerald posted the news on her X account in July, sending social media abuzz with thoughts on who might play the leads:

What will the Wuthering Heights film be about?
Well, the original novel by Brontë follows the story of two families, the Earnshaws and the Lintons, and the doomed love between Catherine Earnshaw and the Earnshaws' foster son, Heathcliff. It explores themes of revenge, social class, and passion, and is considered one of the greatest literary masterpieces in history!
It's not clear yet how closely Emerald will follow the original story, with plot details still under wraps.
When will Wuthering Heights be released?
According to the publication, the film is in pre-production and filming will begin sometime in 2025.
What other projects are Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi working on?
Margot is currently pregnant, so I guess she's working on growing a human! Professionally, she most recently starred in and produced Barbie, the highest grossing film of 2023. Her company LuckyChap, co-founded with her husband Tom Ackerley, just released the film My Old Ass, starring Maisy Stella and Aubrey Plaza.
Meanwhile, Jacob, who worked with Emerald on Saltburn and played music icon Elvis Presley in the 2023 film Priscilla, has a number of new projects in the works including Frankenstein from Guillermo del Toro.
