Metallica's James Hetfield Shares His Mental Health Struggles Mid-Concert Prompting a Group Hug

It's not often we see rockstars open up about their mental health struggles mid concert, but that's exactly what Metallica frontman James Hetfield did this week - and hell yes to being honest and vulnerable!

During the band's show in Brazil, he not only opened up about his insecurities and anxieties on stage but also took a moment to praise his bandmates for their unconditional support:

"I've got to tell you, I wasn't feeling very good before I came out here. Feeling a little bit insecure, like, 'I'm an old guy, can't play anymore' - all this bullsh** that I tell myself in my head," the singer and guitarist told the crowd.

"So I talked to these guys," he continues, pointing towards his band. "They gave me a hug and said, 'Hey, if you're struggling onstage, we've got your back.' And I tell you, it means the world to me."

His words prompted drummer Lars Ulrich, guitarist Krik Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo to all walk over and give him a group hug.

James also used the opportunity to remind others who may be struggling that you're not alone.

"And seeing you out there, I am not alone. I am not alone. And neither are you."
