Selena Gomez is teaming up with her mum, Mandy Teefey, and The Newsette founder Daniella Pierson, to launch a media platform focused on mental health and ending the stigma surrounding it.

The actress, singer, entrepreneur and philanthropist announced the news in an interview for the December issue of Entrepreneur Magazine.

The company, called WonderMind, will include podcasts, TV series, daily articles, books and more and the ultimate aim is to make it okay to talk about mental illness - which is so important, given 1 in 5 of us in Australia experience some form of mental ill health including anxiety, depression and mood disorders, every year. (And these were stats obtained before the pandemic hit.)

“We've each had our own mental health struggles, and we realised there was no inclusive, fun and easy place where people could come together to explore, discuss and navigate their feelings. So we created it," the trio posted on Instagram.

According to Entrepreneur, they teamed up after Daniella interviewed the mother-daughter duo five years earlier for their work on teen Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, delving into important discussions about their own battles with mental health.

"It took me decades to realise with the right support and tools I can live with my ADHD and work through my trauma," Mandy shared on Instagram.

"So, we wanted to create an ecosystem for anybody and everybody to have access to these tools and celebrate their individuality!!"

WonderMind will include interviews with mental health professionals and celebrities and is due to be launched in 2022.
