It's Mother's Day in the UK and Kensington Palace has shared the sweet tradition Prince William and Duchess Catherine's children take part in to honour the late Princess Diana.

According to a post on the Kensington Royal Instagram page, seven-year-old Prince George, five-year-old Princess Charlotte and two-year-old Prince Louis make cards for "Granny Diana" each year.

And yes, they're as heart-melting as you can imagine.

The post shares their colourful creations including a gorgeous hand-written note from Princess Charlotte which reads: "I love you very much. Papa is missing you."

Their work is captioned with a note about how difficult Mother's Day can be:

"Many of us will be apart from our loved ones, but looking forward to a time in the not too distant future when we can give our mother a hug again. But for those experiencing bereavement, today may be particularly challenging."

The caption continues: "Each year on Mother's Day, George, Charlotte and Louis make cards remembering their Granny, Diana, for William. Whatever your circumstance, we are thinking of you this Mother's Day."

The Duke of Cambridge, who is now 38 years old, was just 15 when Princess Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris in 1997.
