Celebrating the Legendary Serena Williams

Table of Contents

Serena Williams may've lost her third round match at the US Open signalling the start of her evolution away from tennis - but with her incredible record and an even more incredible legacy, the word 'lose' just didn't seem right, does it?

Sure the scoreboard was not in her favour. But she went into this tournament a legend of the tennis world and nothing - not even a loss to Aussie Ajla Tomljanovic - can change that.

"I'm such a fighter," she told reporters after her match. “I feel like I really brought something to tennis, a different look, the fist pumps, the just crazy intensity. Passion is a really good word.”

Oh and let's not forget her 186 consecutive weeks at No. 1 in the official rankings, the fact that she's a 23-time major champion with 7 Wimbledon Titles, 7 Australian Open Titles, 3 French Open Titles and 6 US Open Titles.

She's had 367 major match wins, which is the most in women's tennis history. And then there are her 4 Olympic gold medals. Her activism. Her representation. Her business ventures. Her mental health advocacy. And so much more.

Yeah, she'll always be a winner.
