The 2023 Primetime Emmy Awards have officially wrapped up - yes, 2023 even though it's 2024, because last year's actors and writers strikes pushed the ceremony to a later date - and we have all the winners, history-makers and nominees!
The evening opened with Christina Applegate appearing on stage. The Dead to Me star, who is living with MS, received a standing ovation as she walked on and greeted the audience.
The White Lotus, Succession, The Bear and Ted Lasso were among the TV shows entering the night with the most nominations and it turned out being a huge night for Succession - actors Sarah Snook and Kieran Culkin took home the lead acting awards in a drama plus the series won the Best Drama, Best Writing and Best Directing categories!
The Bear's Jeremy Allen White and Abbot Elementary's Quinta Brunson took home the lead acting awards in a comedy series, making Quinta the first Black woman in over 30 years to win the category. (The Jeffersons star Isabel Sanford won way back in 1981!)
Beef stars Ali Wong and Steven Yeun were named the lead actors in a limited series. Ali made history by becoming the first woman of Asian descent to win the category.
And Ayo Edibiri who won Best Supporting Actress in a comedy became the third Black woman in Emmys history to win the award.
Wednesday star Jenna Ortega and The Last of Us actor Pedro Pascal didn't take home awards but they also made a little history with their nominations. Jenna, who was up for Best Lead Actress in a comedy series, was the first Latina actress to receive a nod since 2008 when America Ferrera earned a nomination for Ugly Betty. And Pedro is the first Latino to be nominated for Best Lead Actor in a drama series since Jimmy Smits' nomination for his role in NYPD Blue back in 1999!
