Gemma Chan Confirms 'Crazy Rich Asians' Spin-off is in the Works

There's been a lot of talk lately about a Crazy Rich Asians spinoff - and today, Gemma Chan who starred in the hit 2018 movie, has confirmed it's happening!

"Some news.." she posted to Instagram, along with a screenshot of an article from Deadline who originally reported the film's script is in development at Warner Bros.

According to the publication, the spinoff will focus on Gemma's character Astrid Leong-Teo and her developing relationship with Harry Shum Jr.'s character Charlie Wu, after she splits with cheating husband Michael played by Pierre Png.

And while Gemma didn't give away any other information, she did add the hashtags #Astrid and #Charlie to her message confirming the spinoff will revolve around their relationship.

This is all very much separate to the Crazy Rich Asians sequel which is also currently in the works, based on author Kevin Kwan's book China Rich Girlfriend.
