Who has been nominated for an Oscar this year? We have the full list below!
Oppenheimer leads the group with 13 nominations followed by Poor Things (11 nominations) and Killers of the Flower Moon (10) including a Best Actress nomination for star Lily Gladstone who is now the first Native American to be nominated for a lead acting role and Martin Scorsese who is now the most Oscar-nominated living movie director!
Colman Domingo is the first Afro-Latino actor to be nominated for Best Actor for his role in Rustin. He's also the first openly LGBTQ actor, along with Jodie Foster (who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in Nyad) to receive recognition for playing an LGBTQ character.
Screenwriter Celine Song is the first Asian woman nominated for Best Original Screenplay.
And America Ferrera is the first-ever Oscars nominee of Honduran descent. She's up for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Gloria in Barbie.
Speaking of which....
Barbie, the biggest box office hit of the year - and let's be real, a total cultural phenomenon - has received 8 nominations including Best Picture. But there were no nods for Greta Gerwig as Director or Margot Robbie for Best Actress, perhaps proving the entire point of the film? I'll let you ponder that one! Greta (with Noah Baumbach) is however nominated in the Best Adapted Screenplay category.
Similarly, The Color Purple, which has moved audiences around the world, did not receive the recognition so many believe it deserves. It landed one nomination and that was for the brilliant Danielle Brooks who is up for Best Supporting Actress.
The 96th Annual Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 10 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
