Liam Payne, a musician and former member of One Direction, has sadly passed away.
According to authorities in Argentina, the 31-year-old died after falling from the third storey of a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, where he'd been staying. Investigations are continuing and no further details have been confirmed.
Liam rose to fame alongside Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson when they were placed together to form their boyband on British talent show, The X Factor. They didn't win the competition but together, they did become one of the most popular groups in the world, with hits including "What Makes You Beautiful" and "Story of My Life". The band announced an "indefinite hiatus" in 2016 but like his bandmates, Liam continued a solo career, achieving several hits including "Strip That Down" and "Teardrops".
Liam had been spending time in Argentina after attending Niall's concert there two weeks ago.
And whilst his former bandmates are yet to speak out about his tragic death, many people in the music industry have been sharing loving words for the young singer:
Charlie Puth wrote on Instagram, "I am in shock right now. Liam was always so kind to me. He was one of the first major artists I got to work with, I can not believe he's gone."

Olly Murs who also found fame through The X Factor said: "This news is devastating, am lost for words." He added, "Liam shared the same passions as me, the same dreams so to see his life now end so young hits hard. I'm truly gutted and devastated for his family and of course his son Bear losing a dad."
Zedd, who collaborated with Liam on "Get Low" in 2017 described his passing as "absolutely heartbreaking" and wrote, "life is short and fragile."
Liam is survived by his seven-year-old son Bear whom he shares with his ex-partner Cheryl Cole, his parents, Karen and Geoff, and his two older sister, Ruth and Nicola.
