OMG! Never Have I Ever star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan will be returning to our screens when she joins Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan in the Freaky Friday sequel! insert excited squeals
Disney has announced Maitreyi is one of a number of new cast members including Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, and Manny Jacinto. Her character is still under wraps but we do of course know Jamie and Lindsay are returning as mother-daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman.
Plus, a bunch of cast members from the 2003 film are returning too including Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao.
The studio also announced the film has kicked off production in Los Angeles today, sharing a pic of Jamie and Lindsay sitting on the steps outside their trailers - well, actually, if you look really closely, they're sitting outside each other's trailers, freaky friday style!

Confirming the news on social media, Maitreyi posted, "quite the freaky announcement on a Monday if I do say so myself!"

The actor shot to stardom in Mindy Kaling's 2020 teen Netflix series, Never Have I Ever. She was just 17 when she scored the role of Devi via an open casting call, ultimately receiving widespread acclaim for her portrayal of an Indian American teen figuring out how to both excel in high school and her social life.
Maitreyi has also taken part in a number of animated projects including voicing the character of Priya in the 2022 movie Turning Red.
But fans have been dying to see more of her on screen, so this Freaky Friday business? Yeah, we're here for it!
What will the Freaky Friday sequel be about?
According to a release from Disney, "the film picks up years after Tess and Anna endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice."
The film is being directed by Nisha Ganatra who was behind 2019's Late Night with Emma Thompson and Mindy Kaling.
When will the Freaky Friday sequel be released?
The film will be released in theatres in 2025. No specific release date has been set yet.
