The night was packed with hilarious moments (why yes, Adam Sandler did turn up in a hoodie, and why yes, Kieran Culkin really is ready for more kids!) and powerful ones too (Basel Adra and Yuval Abraham, the Palestinian and Israeli creators of No Other Land, and winners of Best Documentary, calling for an end to war and occupation).

Zoe Saldańa became the first American of Dominican origin to win an Academy Award.  She took home Best Supporting Actress for her role in Emilia Pérez.

Wicked's Paul Tazewell became the first Black man to win the Oscar for costume design.

And Flow, which won for Best Animated Feature, became the first Latvian film to win an Oscar.
