Legendary actress Phylicia Rashad has scored a new gig!

The Tony Award-winning star, who famously portrayed Claire Huxtable on The Cosby Show, has been named Dean of the College of Fine Arts at Howard University.

You see, Ms Rashad attended the uni back in the 70s where she majored in theatre acting and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's in fine arts. She's also served as guest lecturer and adjunct faculty member, conducting master's level classes at a number of universities.

Now, at 72, she'll be returning to campus, this time to run the show.

"It is a privilege to serve in this capacity and to work with the Howard University administration, faculty and students in reestablishing the College of Fine Arts," she said in a statement shared by the uni.

And yeah, they're pretty stoked about having her on board too:

"It is an honour to welcome one of Howard's acclaimed daughters back home to Alma Mater," Provost Anthony K. Wutoh said.

"In this full circle moment, Ms. Phylicia Rashad will take the training and skills that she honed as a student at Howard and exuded in an outstanding performing career, and she will share those pearls of wisdom with the next generation of students in the College of Fine Arts. "

Ms Rashad will take on her new role in July.
