More than 26 years after his death, Tupac's posthumous star has been unveiled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The legendary rapper and actor's younger sister, Sekyiwa "Set" Shakur, accepted the award on his behalf, delivering a moving speech about how Tupac always knew he was destined for greatness:

"From the first time he stepped foot on this stage of the Apollo Theatre at 13 years old, before anyone recognised his name, he knew he had the dream to have a star here on the Walk of Fame," she said through tears.

"Now we gather here today to unveil Tupac's star, not only paying tribute to his contribution in the music industry, but it also speaks volumes to the lasting impact he's had on this world."

Tupac, who was murdered in 1996 when he was 25 years old, earned six Grammy nominations after bursting into the music industry with hits like "California Love", "Hit 'Em Up" and "All Eyes on Me". He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame decades later - in 2017.

And while he was a legend of the hip hop industry, he also starred in a number of movies including Poetic Justice, Gridlock'd and Gang Related. Outside of the entertainment world, Tupac was known for advocating for racial equality.

Sekyiwa continued, "Today, we're not just honouring a star in the ground, but we're honouring the work and passion that he's put into making his dreams come true. His heavenly star will shine a little brighter today. And once again, he has made us all extremely proud. We love you Tupac."

Tupac is one of only 12 rap artists to have a star on the famous boulevard - others include Queen Latifah, Ice-T, Missy Elliot and Sean Combs.
