The beloved K-pop group, made up of Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé, received their honours from King Charles III in the presence of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon Hee who were visiting Buckingham Palace this week.

According to the Palace, the women were recognised for their climate advocacy, in particular their campaign encouraging millions of young people to engage with the COP26 climate change conference in Glasgow in 2021.

"It is especially inspiring to see Korea's younger generation embrace the cause," King Charles said at a state banquet held earlier in the week.

"I applaud Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé, better known collectively as BLACKPINK, for their role in bringing the message of environmental sustainability to a global audience as Ambassadors for the U.K.'s Presidency of COP26, and later as advocates for the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals."

King Charles continued, "I can only admire how they can prioritise these vital issues, as well as being global superstars."

The military band of the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards paid tribute to the K-pop group by playing their hit "DDU-DU DDU-DU" on the palace forecourt:

According to the Associated Press, Jennie, Jisoo and Lisa all received honorary MBEs however Rosé received a traditional MBE because she has dual citizenship in New Zealand, where King Charles is head of state.
