Amal and George Clooney have donated US $1 million to a number of organisations supporting coronavirus relief efforts.

The superstar couple has given $250,000 to both the Motion Picture and Television Home and the SAG-AFTRA Fund to give financial aid to people working in entertainment who've been impacted by widespread industry closures.

The Clooneys have also donated $250,000 to the Los Angeles Mayor's Fund to help buy hospital supplies and meals for the elderly.

The remaining $300,000 has been donated to three international charities including the Lebanese Food Bank to help people struggling with food security during the pandemic, the UK's National Health Service to support hospital staff and the Lombardo Italy Region to support local hospitals there.
