Global superstar Beyoncé just celebrated her 45th trip around the sun and she marked the special occasion by giving back to Black artists.
Bey donated US $2 million to the Studio Museum in Harlem to back its mission of promoting artists of the African diaspora.
"Art tells our stories: the past and the present, but is not always accessible to everyone," Beyoncé said in a press release.
"I have always been impressed with Studio Museum in Harlem because of its intention to make the museum an integral part of the community. I have been introduced to several of my favourite young and upcoming Black artists through exhibits at the Museum. It is a place of inspiration where all audiences an discover new stories through the canvases of diverse storytellers that reflect our humanity."
The Museum says Bey's generous gift will allow them to continue to "shift the arts landscape and reimagine who that landscape serves."
Beyoncé's birthday was on September 4. She also released B'Day (20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) to celebrate two decades of her sophomore solo album.
