Bella Hadid is doing her bit to support aid efforts to Türkiye and Syria following the earthquakes which hit the region earlier this month.

The model and philanthropist stopped by the Turkevi Centre in New York City this week where she not only donated supplies but also met with Reyhan Ozgur, Türkiye's Consul General in NY, and the volunteers who have been supporting survivors since the earthquake hit.

"Blankets, diapers and sleeping bags," she posted alongside photos of her visit on Instagram.

According to the United Nations, an estimated 50,000 people were killed in the earthquakes and more than 1,000,000 have been displaced. They are living in temporary shelters, relying on aid agencies to provide shelter, food, water and other basic necessities.

“While the world has quickly mobilised in support of people here, the impact of this quake will be felt for months and years to come,” said the UN's World Food Programme Executive Director David Beasley.

He adds that on the Syrian side, the situation is a “catastrophe on top of a catastrophe” as the earthquake followed 12 years of conflict - hitting areas that don't have the capacity to rebuild or deal with the magnitude of this disaster.

Bella made the trip with her good friend, hair artist Mustafa Yanaz, who praised Bella on social media for her kindness:

"Bella, you are a super-human with your empathy, courage and never-ending support for those in need. Really proud of having you as a friend."
