Our favourite Hollywood couple, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, have made a generous donation to support homeless and at-risk youth in Canada.

The pair donated $500,000 to be split between Covenant House in Vancouver and Covenant House in Toronto, an organisation providing teens and young adults with basics like food, water and shelter as well as helping survivors of sex trafficking.

"Covenant House provides love, hope and stability for at-risk youth who've fled physical, emotional and sexual abuse," Ryan, who's been a long-time supporter of the non-profit, says in a statement.

"They do the work of heroes. For us, helping Covenant House this way isn't a donation, but an investment in compassion and empathy; something the world needs more of," he continues, before urging others to also consider donating.

"The young people who pass through the doors of Covenant House more often than not have a story marked by extraordinary trauma. They are so much more than that trauma. They have so much to offer the world."

But Blake and Ryan's kindness doesn't end there.

They're also taking part in a "triple match campaign" so for any donation anyone else makes to Covenant House Vancouver between now and the end of the year, they will match that amount times three.

"Matching this gift is saying you believe in them. You believe in the power of compassion to transform the trajectory of a human being," Ryan added.

As you can imagine, the people at Covenant House are pretty stoked:

"Ryan and Blake truly understand that young people who are facing homelessness deserve unconditional love and absolute respect. Their generous donation and compassionate support means so much to Covenant House and we are truly grateful for their continued friendship," Covenant House Vancouver CEO Krista Thompson said in a statement.

According to the organisation, COVID-19 has meant that young people are experiencing more job losses as well as increased mental health and drug issues.

They are currently serving hundreds of young adults and teens every year. In 2019, Covenant House helped 306 people find stable housing, 218 find and keep their jobs and served over 105,000 meals to youth facing hunger.
