Acclaimed singer-songwriter and mental health advocate Noah Kahan is continuing to use his platform for good - he's now raised over US$2.4 million for mental health care.

Through his fundraising initiative, The Busyhead Project, Noah has been donating a portion of proceeds from ticket sales, plus inviting fans to donate too by offering livestream tickets and other perks. The original goal had been to raise $1 million... but clearly he smashed that!

"When I was a kid, I didn't know what was wrong with me. I had all these dark thoughts and dark feelings and felt alone and scared of my brain all the time," the musician shared in a press release announcing the initiative.

"I had an understanding family and friends and a supportive community, but I felt afraid to talk about what I was going through. As I began to make music, I made an effort to write lyrics about how I was feeling, in the hopes that maybe someone out there would feel less alone when they listened to it, like I did growing up. As a non-college educated professional musician, this felt like all I could do: to try to make people feel heard and understood and less uncomfortable in their own brains."

His message continued, "This year, my team and I started talking about how we could push the effort further. We wanted to find a bigger way to reduce stigma and provide resources to people struggling with their mental health. My incredible management team and many other wonderful partners and I got together to create an initiative with the goal ot raise a million dollars for organisations specialising in mental awareness and resources."

Some of the organisations who've benefited so far include Bring Change to Mind, Jack.org and the Rural Behavioural Health Institute.

Noah will continue to raise funds during the remainder of his Stick Season world tour.
