The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are showing their appreciation for veterans who've been volunteering in the Compton community in California.

Through the couple's Archewell Foundation, they've donated lunch to charity, The Mission Continues, which works to empower veterans to continue their service once they're no longer wearing the uniform. (Pretty awesome, hey?)

The Sussexes donation for the volunteers of the L.A. Service Platoon was delivered ahead of Martin Luther King Day - and it came with a special note too:

"In honour of this day of service, and in recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and all that he stood for, we want to send out thanks and gratitude to the team at The Mission Continues," their letter reads.

"We're so proud of all the work you're doing to support your community and hope you enjoy this small token of our appreciation. Thank you for your service - today and everyday. We look forward to joining you soon! Stay safe, and keep up the great work."

Going by a photo shared on The Mission Continues' Twitter account, it looks like lunch was donated from Homegirl Catering which is part of Homeboy Industries - a charity that helps former gang members and people who've been released from prison rebuild their lives through community contribution.

In fact, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan volunteered with the organisation during the pandemic last year:
