Shawn Mendes' Foundation Donates $175k to Children's Hospital Preparing for COVID-19 Screening

Canadian superstar Shawn Mendes has become the latest celebrity to contribute to the fight against the coronavirus crisis.

The singer has announced that his non-profit foundation - The Shawn Foundation - is donating $175,000 to the SickKids Foundation to help a children's hospital in his hometown of Toronto purchase equipment and supplies to deal with COVID-19 cases.

"By making this donation to SickKids, we hope to help provide support in the urgent screening and prevention of COVID-19 for their patients and the surrounding community of Toronto," Shawn says in a statement.

For the next month, any donations made to The Shawn Foundation will go towards SickKids as well as the World Health Organisation's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
