We have some Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce news! It's not wedding news. But it is kindness news, and honestly, that's even better in our books!
A representative for Taylor has confirmed to a number of media outlets including People and Rolling Stone that the famous couple has donated US$26 million to a bunch of charities in New York and beyond.
The charities include:
- educational programs for kids such as Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, Arnold Schwarzenegger's After School All Stars sports activities and GRAMMY in the Schools music program;
- organisations supporting hunger relief such as Feeding America and Food Bank for NYC;
- a number of hospitals including Children's Mercy Hospital Kansas City and MSK Kids: Paediatric cancer program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre; and
- animal rescue and protection group, the ASPCA.
There are 21 charities in total benefiting from the generous donation, and many of them are taking to social media, sharing their gratitude for Taylor and Travis:
"Thank you, @taylorswift and @killatrav, for your generous $2 million gift to Feeding America! This support builds on Taylor’s ongoing commitment to neighbours across the country and brings us all closer to a future where everyone has the food they need to thrive. We’re so grateful to have partners like you in this work."
Local politicians are also sharing their thanks for the couple. Here's a statement from NY State Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton:
"I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce for their generous donations of $26 million to organisations across New York City. These funds will help address many inequities across our five boroughs, including food insecurity, animal welfare, and support for our first responders and their families. So many amazing charities, including New York Cares, Answer the Call and Food Bank for NYC are better positioned to serve New Yorkers because of their love story."
As for that wedding? Stay tuned. We reckon Tay will give us the lowdown, when she's ready.
